Rules:

Pick 'em (NCAA & NFL).   The pick 'em pools are fairly straight forward.  Pick the winner of each game listed on the weekly sheet.  Correct picks are 1 point.  Incorrect picks are a big 'ol zero. All pick sheets are due prior to the start of each game. If late picks are submitted, any games currently in progress will be counted as a loss regardless of the pick.

If a pick sheet is submitted with blanks in any of the fields, that game will count as a loss unless it is updated prior to gametime. If NO picks are submitted for the week, the player will be defaulted to the Home Teams.  Default picks (home teams) are not eligible for the weekly win; however, win totals do carry over.

The weekly payout is based on the single highest number of points for a given week.  In the event of a tie, total score of the last game on the sheet comes into play.  Closest to the total score wins the tiebreaker, regardless of higher or lower.

Weekly and overall payouts are dependent on the number of total participants. Ties for 1st place overall will be split evenly with no 2nd place payout.  Ties for 2nd place overall will be split evenly after 1st place payout.

Suicide Pool.   Participants pick one (1) NFL team each week.  If that teams wins, play continues the next week. If that team loses, game over (exception: within the first two weeks, participant may re-buy into the pool no more than once). Once a team is picked, they cannot pick that team again.  Winner takes all in this pool, there is no second place (losers do not have to commit suicide upon exit).

When the participants get down to three or four, I will send individual messages to each remaining.  If they ALL wish for a split pot, I will split and start a new pool if time allows in the season.  Responses are not revealed to the remaining participants.  This must be unanimous; if one person does not wish to split, then the pool moves forward.

This pool requires some thought and tracking on both our parts:
  • From the participant side, you need to keep track of the teams you have already picked.  It is solely your responsibility to ensure the pick is valid.
  • From the wonderful, under-appreciated commissioner perspective, every pick is verified against the meticulous data kept in my records.  In the event of a duplicate suicide pick, I will notify the sender as quickly as possible.
